This year’s topic of the Political Section of the Model Conference is: The Perspectives of the Visegrad Cooperation – towards a deeper partnership. Considering the geographical and cultural closeness of these countries as well as the comprehensive challenges which Europe currently faces, the cooperation of Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland is a plausible decision. The countries of the Visegrad Group expressed their determination to enhance the existing forms of their collaboration as well as broaden the cooperation in a range of new areas. These countries see their mutual collaboration as a challenge and aim to work together to achieve their common goals also within the structures of the European Union. The main goal of the negotiations of the Political Section is to deepen cooperation between countries of the Visegrad Group. The participating countries will endeavor to achieve the greatest possible potential of cooperation, with the aim of reaching an agreement in several key areas, including defense and security cooperation, energy security and sustainable energy sector, as well as infrastructure development, and common identity and presentation of the Visegrad Group.

SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA
SLOVAKIA Michaela Augustínová, Martina Blahová, Miriama Ševčíková, Tereza Kováčová, Tatiana Skáčiková

Being the smallest Visegrad country, the V4 provides Slovakia with an opportunity to pursue its national interests at the regional as well as the EU level. Therefore, the V4 is the first choice for Slovakia when it comes to the discussion of regional issues or EU policies. We aim at deepening the coordination of common positions towards the EU. The Slovak Republic also stresses the important role of the V4 in promoting the EU enlargement in the regions of Western Balkan and Eastern Partnership. We reaffirm the initiative to assist those countries in the transformation process and the Euro-atlantic integration. On the other hand, we are keen on increasing the public awareness of the V4 grouping within the region and to promote the Visegrad brand of Central European Region. The delegation of Slovakia will also discuss following topics: Crisis  Management, Defence, Energy Security and Clean Energy Strategies, and Development of the Common Infrastructure.
